How to use Stereo Connect mode with the ROCKSTER XS:
The ROCKSTER XS offers the Stereo Connect feature. Using this feature, you can connect one ROCKSTER XS to a second ROCKSTER XS and enjoy your music in stereo. A connection with a playback device can already exist, or it can be established subsequently.
Prerequisites: To use the Stereo Connect function, you need 2 ROCKSTER XS of the same hardware generation. Unfortunately, it is not possible to connect 2 devices of different generations due to technical changes.
Range: Please note that the Stereo Connect function works safely up to a maximum distance of 2 meters between the devices. During operation, make sure that there are no obstacles (furniture, plants, people) between the devices.
Establish Stereo Connect connection: On device 1, briefly press the Bluetooth button and the Volume + button simultaneously - the three status LEDs will flash. Now repeat the process on device 2. The connection is now automatic. For detailed information, please refer to the instructions on pages 22/23.
Additional notes:
- Depending on the installation location and type, the range in Stereo Connect mode may vary. Place the two ROCKSTER XS so that they have direct "line of sight" and are no more than 1 to 2 m apart.
- If you switch off a ROCKSTER XS, the connected ROCKSTER XS will also be switched off.
- If both ROCKSTER XS are switched on again, they will connect again automatically. To disconnect permanently, press the Bluetooth and Volume buttons simultaneously on one of the devices -.
My ROCKSTER XS moves at high volumes.
Due to the powerful woofer radiator, it can happen in individual cases that the ROCKSTER XS moves at the location of the ROCKSTER XS during bass-heavy music in combination with high volume and smooth surface. This happens mainly in the horizontal position.
Therefore, please check the installation location before using the Rockster XS at high volumes.
ROCKSTER XS: The charge level LEDs do not light up (sometimes).
The charge level LEDs do NOT light up if the ROCKSTER XS is connected to the charging cable but has been switched off beforehand. Therefore, please switch on the ROCKSTER XS to read the battery charge level.
ROCKSTER XS: iPhone/iPad users, please note.
At low volumes, the device sometimes seems to produce no sound. The three lowest volume levels on an iPhone or iPad will result in the ROCKSTER XS producing no sound. The cause of this issue is a unique quirk of the connection between this device and Apple devices. Just turn it up to volume level 4 or higher and the music will be audible. This is unfortunately impossible to change, but does not generally have a negative impact on the listening experience.
ROCKSTER XS: how can I use NFC to connect to my phone?
With NFC (Near Field Communication), the ROCKSTER XS currently offers the most convenient solution for connecting (pairing) the device with a cell phone, provided that the latter is also equipped with NFC.
Both devices communicate via NFC directly over their NFC contact surfaces under the casing's surface and then establish a connection via Bluetooth automatically. All you have to do is briefly hold the devices together at the NFC contact surfaces.
How to pair the ROCKSTER XS via NFC
1. Switch on the Rockster XS. The LEDs light up.
2. Switch on the NFC function on the cell phone (if not already done)
3. if necessary, make sure that the NFC contact surface on your cell phone is positioned correctly (varies depending on the manufacturer, often on the back) and now hold the cell phone directly against the NFC contact surface of the ROCKSTER XS*.
4. the devices now communicate with each other. The devices now communicate with each other and establish a connection via Bluetooth. 5.
5. the Bluetooth connection is established. Start a playback.
*The NFC contact surface of the ROCKTER XS is located on the top of the device near the controls.
Notes:
- To use NFC, some smartphones (depending on the manufacturer) require Bluetooth to be turned on manually in addition to NFC.
- If the access lock is currently active on the smartphone when you try to establish a connection (lock screen is visible), NFC usually does not work. In this case, unlock the phone and repeat the process with an unlocked device.
ROCKSTER XS: Use with Android cell phone via cable (AUX). The (maximum) volume is lower than via Bluetooth.
With many Android smartphones, the achievable maximum volume when outputting the audio signal via line out (with cable) is lower than via Bluetooth (wireless). This is due to the fact that the resistance at the AUX input is set comparatively high to protect the ROCKSTER XS from too high levels (as is possible with CD players). The differences are smaller with iOS devices, since the headphone output is set higher here.
Tip: If you use two devices with their own volume control as a player-player combination (e.g. smartphone and Bluetooth box), the volume can be controlled on both devices. However, if the player is set to a very low volume, the player cannot fully compensate for this. So increase the volume of the player first.
