Teufel Streaming devices meet the USB standards for operating USB hard drives without their own power supply. In practice, however, it is often the case that the USB hard drives consume more power during operation than the standard specifies, especially under load. We, therefore, recommend either using a USB hard disk with its own power supply or switching to USB-Stick if necessary.
