If your new WIFI streaming device (e.g. Teufel Streaming Series, Radio 3Sixty, MusicStation or HOLIST Series) either does not connect to the WIFI (setup) or cannot be operated, check the settings of your WIFI for requirements for using WIFI devices at home. The WIFI settings should be visible in the settings menu of your router. This checklist should help you:
1. communication between devices must be allowed on the network. Some routers offer special settings for this, which must be enabled or disabled depending on the manufacturer.
Examples:
- Option: "WIFI devices are allowed to communicate with each other" must be enabled.
- "AP isolation" or "Client isolation" must be deactivated.
In some networks that establish both a 5 GHz WIFI and a 2.4 GHz WIFI communication between these two networks is partially restricted. For example, if the mobile device with the app is in the 5 GHz WIFI and the streaming device is in the 2.4 GHz WIFI, the app will not find the speaker.
In some routers, communication between the two WIFI networks can be configured. Here, this communication must be allowed.
Alternatively, or if no such setting is available, it helps to give the 5 GHz WIFI its own name (SSID) and to connect both the mobile device with the app and the streaming speaker(s) to the same WIFI.
Tip: If you are not sure whether the smartphone and WIFI device are in the same network, it is a good idea to name the 5 GHZ network differently than the 2.4 GHz network. Especially when both networks have the same name, it is not directly recognizable which network is connected to the WIFI device.
The "Multicast" option must be allowed in the network. Various device detections (Bonjour, SSDP) are based on it, which are also used by other apps that access the speakers (e.g. Spotify). A Teufel Raumfeld system additionally uses the communication form "Broadcast".
