Teufel Raumfeld devices (and the earlier Raumfeld devices) have been a valued component of the Teufel portfolio for more than ten years. Their technology was based on the idea that all Teufel Raumfeld and Raumfeld devices would be compatible with one another so they could be used to build multiroom systems and keep the user experience identical across devices.
After more than 13 years of development, customer demands have shifted. Users now prefer more flexible systems so they can group devices from more than one manufacturer into their systems. Incorporating streaming services such as Apple AirPlay 2, Google Chromecast and Bluetooth has now taken precedence over more limited technologies. The call to have apps such as Spotify playable directly over streaming devices has also grown markedly.
To meet these new demands, we made the difficult decision to take the Teufel Home series down a new path to keep in line with customer preferences for the future and remain competitive in the market. The first product in our new Teufel Home series is the STEREO M 2.
But taking this new path required Teufel to rebuild its streaming hardware and software from the ground up. And that meant leaving older Raumfeld and Teufel Raumfeld devices out, because they do not have this new hardware.
We will continue to offer Raumfeld technology in many devices in our portfolio, so if you are one of our many loyal Raumfeld customers, don't fret - the software will continue to be supported for years to come. The Teufel Home technology is not a de facto replacement of existing technology, just a new option for music streaming with great audio that also provides more flexible options for at-home applications.
