To get an overview of the signal strength of all Raumfeld devices, open the Teufel Streaming/Raumfeld app → Settings > Network > Network Analysis.
If the connection keeps dropping or the signal strength of individual wirelessly connected devices is consistently below 50%, you should take measures to improve the device's Wi-Fi reception and thus the reliability of music playback.
Why do streaming interruptions occur?
When many Wi-Fi networks are operating nearby, it can lead to overlaps and interference. The 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band is particularly affected because there are only a few non-overlapping channels available.
Tips to improve Wi-Fi stability
1. Place router and device optimally
An unfavorable location can impair Wi-Fi stability.
In general: The fewer walls and ceilings between devices, the better the reception. Thick walls made of concrete or brick especially dampen the signal.
The router should be placed as centrally as possible, not hidden behind furniture/TVs, positioned high (e.g., on a shelf instead of the floor), and away from sources of interference (microwaves, Bluetooth devices, baby monitors, DECT phones, etc.).
Even a few centimeters can noticeably improve reception.
2. Choose the optimal Wi-Fi channel (2.4 GHz & 5 GHz)
Many routers are set to "Auto," but automatic selection is often unreliable. Manually selecting a less used channel can significantly reduce interference.
- 2.4 GHz: It is best to use only 1, 6, or 11 (non-overlapping).
- 5 GHz: More free channels → usually less critical.
Many routers offer a channel analysis feature that shows which channels are congested.
3. Reduce network load and sources of interference in the household
Many active devices can overload the router. Tips:
- Disconnect devices not in use from Wi-Fi
- Use LAN cables for your TV, PC, streaming box, etc., if possible.
- Use the guest network for some devices (that you don't use for music streaming) to distribute the load.
Many electronic devices operate near 2.4 GHz and can cause interference. Increase the distance between the router and such devices as wireless headphones, smart home hubs, TVs with active Bluetooth, USB 3.0 devices (which can interfere with 2.4 GHz), and Bluetooth devices.
