Here you will learn how to use USB sticks and USB hard drives as music sources with your Teufel streaming system. You will also find information about supported file systems and audio formats, as well as troubleshooting tips if a USB storage device is not recognized or disconnects.

Requirements
To use USB sticks or USB hard drives as music sources, the following requirements must be met:
- The storage medium must be formatted with a supported file system.
- The USB storage must be connected to the host device of the Teufel streaming system.
- For first-generation Raumfeld devices, only USB sticks and USB hard drives with their own power supply are supported.
- This restriction does not apply to second and third generation Raumfeld devices.
Supported file systems
- FAT16 / FAT32
- NTFS
- HFS / HFS+
- EXT2 / EXT3 / EXT4
In isolated cases, we have received reports of problems with USB 1.0 storage devices. Therefore, we recommend using a USB 2.0 storage device.
Supported audio formats
The following audio formats can be played from USB storage devices:
- MP3
- FLAC (max. 24 bit/96 kHz)
- WAV (max. 24 bit/96 kHz)
- OGG
- AAC
- ASF
- Apple Lossless
Connecting USB storage
- Connect your USB stick or USB hard drive to the host device of your Teufel streaming system.
- If necessary, you can specify the host device in the app under Settings > Network > Host configuration.
- Wait until the USB storage has been scanned into the music collection.
- You will then find the folder structure of the USB storage under "My Music" in the app.

Important:
- If you use a Raumfeld Base, it automatically takes over the host function.
- USB storage devices connected to any device other than the host cannot be used as a music source.
Special notes on USB hard drives
Teufel streaming devices comply with USB standards for operating USB hard drives without their own power supply. However, in practice, some hard drives may require more power than can be provided via the USB port.
In such cases, the hard drive may:
- not be recognized
- fail to start
- fail during playback
- lose connection
For reliable operation, we recommend:
- a USB hard drive with its own power supply
- a USB stick.
Troubleshooting
The USB storage is not recognized
Check the following points:
- Is the storage connected to the host device?
- Is a supported file system being used?
- Is it a USB 1.0 storage device? In isolated cases, problems have been reported with USB 1.0 storage. We therefore recommend USB 2.0 or newer devices.
- Does the hard drive have sufficient power supply?
The hard drive fails during operation
This may be due to increased power demand from the hard drive. Use a model with its own power supply if possible, or alternatively a USB stick.
