What is the difference between the STUDIO 5X and STUDIO 5X BT?
Both systems feature a 3-way system with a coaxially designed tweeter and midrange driver, a 5-inch woofer, and adjustment options for adapting the speakers to their placement.
The STUDIO 5X BT additionally features Bluetooth® with AAC and aptX™ HD, a stereo RCA input, a volume control for this input, and channel switching for the left, right, or mono channel.
Are the STUDIO 5X suitable as home theater speakers?
The STUDIO 5X was not developed as a traditional home theater speaker, but as a studio monitor for audio production and audio analysis.
While home theater speakers are often designed to create a particularly impressive soundstage, the STUDIO 5X focuses on the most precise and uncolored reproduction possible.

How do I connect the speakers?
Option 1: Connecting via the audio inputs
Both systems feature a balanced XLR/¼-inch jack input and an unbalanced RCA input. This allows the speakers to be connected to an audio interface, mixer, or DAC, for example.
With this connection method, each speaker is connected directly to the left or right output of the audio source.
Option 2: Additional connection options for the STUDIO 5X BT
The STUDIO 5X BT also features a stereo RCA input (10) for hi-fi sources and Bluetooth® (8).
Step 1: Connect the speakers to each other
Connect the STUDIO 5X BT and the second speaker using the included stereo link cable (RJ45, 5 m). The speakers should be switched off during this process.
Step 2: Set the channel assignment
Use the Channel Mode switch (11) to specify which speaker should reproduce the left or right channel:
- LEFT: The STUDIO 5X BT plays the left channel, and the connected speaker plays the right channel

How do I position the STUDIO 5X speakers optimally?
For the most precise reproduction possible, the speakers should be positioned to the left and right of the listening position and aimed toward it. You should be within the recommended listening area (max. 2 m). The speakers can be operated upright or lying down. The Studio 5 X speakers are optimally aligned when positioned at ear level.
Can I mount the STUDIO 5X speakers on stands or wall mounts?
Yes. Both speakers feature two M6 threaded mounts and can be mounted on many commercially available speaker stands, wall mounts, or ceiling mounts.

Tip: When selecting a mount or stand, make sure it is compatible with M6 threads and has sufficient load-bearing capacity for the speaker weight of 7.33 kg per speaker.
What do Speaker Placement and Desk Filter do?
With the Speaker Placement and Desk Filter settings, you can adapt the speakers to their placement. This allows you to compensate for tonal changes caused by walls, corners, or desks.
Speaker Placement
This setting takes the speaker’s position in the room into account:

Free: The speaker is positioned freely in the room, with sufficient distance (50 to 100 cm) from walls and corners.

The Wall and Corner settings help compensate for the additional bass boost that can occur when the speakers are positioned close to a wall or corner.
Desk Filter
The Desk Filter compensates for reflections that can occur when the speakers are positioned behind or directly on a desk. The distance between the speaker and the desktop, as well as the depth of the desktop, are important factors.

Off: No desk compensation. This setting is useful when the speaker is placed on a stand.

Small Desk: For smaller desks (50 cm to 100 cm deep)

Large Desk: For larger desks (100 cm deep or more)
If the speaker is not being used on or directly behind a desk, the Desk Filter should be deactivated.
How do I connect the STUDIO 5X BT via Bluetooth®?
- Enable Bluetooth® on your smartphone, tablet, or another compatible playback device.
- Press the BT Pairing button (8) on the back of the STUDIO 5X BT.
- Search for available Bluetooth® devices on the playback device.
- Select “STUDIO 5X” from the device list.
- After successful pairing, audio playback will be output through the STUDIO 5X BT.
Notes:
- The STUDIO 5X BT supports Bluetooth® with AAC and aptX™ HD.
- Under ideal conditions, the Bluetooth® range is up to approximately 10 meters. Walls, furniture, and other obstacles may reduce the range.
- Previously paired devices can usually restore the connection directly through their Bluetooth® device list.
How do I clear the list of paired Bluetooth® devices?
To do this, press and hold the BT Pairing button for approximately 12 to 15 seconds. Bluetooth® connections will then need to be set up again if necessary.
What does the front LED indicate?
The front LED provides information about the speakers’ current operating status and helps you quickly identify clipping and other operating conditions, allowing you to optimize playback settings.

Why is there no sound?
If there is no sound, please check the following:
- Is the speaker turned on and connected to the power supply?
- Is the audio source turned on and outputting an audio signal?
- Are all audio cables connected correctly?
- Is the volume on the audio source set sufficiently high?
- Is the gain control set appropriately for the connected audio source?
- For the STUDIO 5X BT: Is the Bluetooth® connection established, and has “STUDIO 5X” been selected as the output device?
- Are multiple audio sources being used simultaneously? The inputs are active in parallel and mix the signals. If necessary, test with only one connected source.
If the problem persists, try another audio source or another connection cable if possible to narrow down the cause.
How do I update the firmware?
The firmware can be updated via the service port on the back of the speaker. The procedure differs depending on the model.
STUDIO 5X
- Download the latest firmware file from the Teufel website.
- Turn off the speaker.
- Connect the speaker to a computer using a data-capable USB-C cable.
- Turn on the speaker.
- Open the drive “TEUFEL” displayed on the computer and copy the firmware file to it.
- After the transfer is complete, turn off the speaker, disconnect the USB cable, and turn the speaker on again.
- If the front LED (11) remains solid white after the boot sequence, the update was completed successfully.
STUDIO 5X BT
- Copy the latest firmware to a compatible USB-C storage device.
- Turn off the speaker.
- Connect the USB-C storage device to the service port.
- Turn on the speaker.
- The update starts automatically. During the process, the front LED flashes red and white alternately.
- After the update is completed successfully, turn off the speaker and remove the USB-C storage device.
