Many soundbars can create a more spacious soundstage even though the speakers are positioned in front of the listening area. Depending on the model, this is achieved through special sound processing, additional speaker channels, or sound reflections in the room. As a result, movies, TV shows, and games feel more immersive than with conventional stereo playback.

Important to know: The effect depends, among other things, on the room acoustics and the placement of the soundbar. The surround effect may therefore vary depending on the room.
Virtual surround sound significantly expands the soundstage, but it cannot fully replace a genuine surround system with separate rear speakers. If you want to experience the most precise sound from all directions, a full surround setup delivers the best results.
