Can the Teufel CAGE & CAGE (2019) headsets play virtual Surround Sound from a Playstation or Xbox?
Virtual playback of multi-channel sound formats (Surround) with the CAGE requires a special app, the Teufel Audio Center (TAC). This app is only available for Windows PC. It is therefore not possible to use this function for PlayStation or Xbox.
Can I connect the Teufel CAGE & CAGE (2019) headsets to an XBox or Playstation?
You can connect the CAGE to your Xbox or Playstation with a phono (AUX) cable. Audio in 7.1 can only be transmitted via USB with a PC or laptop.
Tip: You can still connect the USB cable to activate the lighting on the CAGE (Teufel logo on the side).
Note for Playstation 4, Playstation 4 Pro and Playstation 5: The Sony PlayStation 4 /4 Pro and Playstation 5 recognizes the CAGE as a headset when connected via USB and can be used without an audio cable. However, the sound output is only in stereo and not 5.1 or 7.1 Surround.
Note for the Xbox One, Xbox One X, Xbox Series X and S: You can connect the CAGE to your Xbox via phono cable. However, the sound output is only in stereo and not 5.1 or 7.1 Surround.
Are the CAGE & CAGE 2019 also suitable for listening to music while working out?
The CAGE is designed as an HD gaming headset with an integrated USB sound card. It is suitable for PC, but also smartphone, tablet and gaming consoles.
In principle, the CAGE can also be used for listening to music via phono cable. However, it is less suitable for exercise activities due to its design, and the synthetic leather earpads are not sweat resistant. The ear pads are washable, though.
What's the difference between using the USB and the phono (AUX) cable for the Teufel CAGE & CAGE (2019) headsets?
The CAGE is best used with a PC via USB because then the driver and sound card can be brought into use for 5.1 and 7.1 sound.
However, the CAGE can also be used as a headset on a game console or smartphone/tablet via phono plug. Here, the output is exclusively in stereo. The virtual surround sound can therefore not be used. The CAGE is also recognized via USB on some game consoles or can be connected directly to the controller via cable. The output is also in stereo here.
Do the CAGE headsets block out ambient noise?
The CAGE are equipped with overear earpads, which block out ambient noise. However, the CAGE does not have noise-canceling technology, which uses microphones to additionally filter out ambient noise. A pair of Teufel headphones that do offer this technology is the REAL BLUE NC.
