By connecting a TV via HDMI cable, the ULTIMA 40 Active speakers become a complete TV sound system. When using HDMI, the TV normally automatically detects the sound system and now outputs the TV sound through the speakers. The prerequisite is that the TV HDMI connection supports the function audio return channel (ARC). If HDMI is not available, you can optionally connect the TV via OPTICAL IN (TOSLINK/optical) or AUX IN (RCA cable). In this case, it may be necessary to manually configure the sound output in the TV.

Teufel ULTIMA 40 Active connected to TV via HDMI ARC
TV sets with HDMI audio return channel (ARC) output the TV sound to ULTIMA 40 Aktiv via the HDMI cable. If the TV set supports this function, connect the TV and speaker via the "TV IN" connection.
Teufel ULTIMA 40 Active connected to TV via TOSLINK
Connect the optical digital sound output (if available) of a source device (TV) to the OPTICAL IN jack. An optical cable with a TOSLINK connector is required for this.
Teufel ULTIMA 40 Active connected to TV via analogue audio output
A source device with analogue audio output can be connected to the AUX IN RCA sockets. This requires a stereo connection cable with RCA plugs. The headphone output of the TV can also be used if it is connected with an AUX splitter cable.

An external subwoofer can be connected via the SUB OUT jack using a mono RCA cable to boost the bass foundation.
Tips on setting up the speakers can be found in the system manual (section "Setup", from page 9). Further information is also available on the Teufel blog.
